What size are the barrel threads?
The .308 cal. / 7.62X51mm and 6.8 cal. Threads are 5/8-24
The .223 cal. / 5.56X45mm threads are 1/2-28
Why doesn’t POF offer chrome lined barrels?
All of our barrels are Case Harden Nitrate Heat Treated to 70 RC.
The steel case is softer then our chambers. Our case harden barrels
shoot consistently better groups on all of our weapon systems then
chrome lined barrels. Our barrels are easier to clean and don’t copper
foul like chrome lined barrels. Our case hardened nitrate heat treated
barrels are 10x’s thicker in the hardness area of the barrel (case
hardness .005” thk., chrome lined .0005” thk.).
Chrome lining can delaminate (peel away from barrel surface) from heat,
and the chrome lining doesn’t plate evenly on the entire surface of the
bore and grooves. |
Can I shoot .308 Winchester and 7.62 x 51 mm NATO ammunition with my P308?
Yes. Our barrel chambers are reamed to size using a NATO
reamer, which allows the use of both .308 Winchester and
7.62 x 51mm NATO ammunition.
Can I shoot .223 Remington and 5.56 x 45mm NATO ammunition with my P415 /
P416?
Yes. Our barrel chambers are reamed to size using a NATO reamer, which
allows the use of both .223 Remington and 5.56 x 45mm NATO ammunition.
Can I shoot steel cased ammunition like Wolf, in my POF rifles?
Yes, in fact POF does a lot of testing with WOLF ammo. There are no
issues using steel cased ammo in our weapons, however, it is important
to remember to thoroughly clean the throat area of the chamber after a
session with Wolf or other steel cased ammo.
What is the normal use barrel life of the POF barrels?
You can expect to get at least 20,000 plus rounds out of our Nitrate
heat treated case hardened barrels. All of our barrels are over 2x’s
harder then mil spec and hammer forged barrels. We know of a few weapons
that have 40,000 plus rounds through them, and still no need to replace
the barrel.
What is the recommended break in
procedure for my POF barrels?
There is no break-in required. When you first get your weapon clean the
barrel properly using proper cleaning equipment prior to shooting. After
shooting properly clean the barrel using proper cleaning equipment. The
barrels are Case Hardened Nitrate Heat Treated to 70 RC. All of our
barrels are over 2x’s harder then stainless steel, Mil-Spec and Hammer
Forged Barrels, and 10x’s more corrosion resistant.

Should I oil the op-rod, gas plug and gas piston parts
on my POF-USA rifle?
No. Heat is
dissipated on these parts and should refrain from using
oil.
What are the difference between Gas Impingement vs. Gas
Piston?
Most of the
malfunction issues associated with M4 current design can
be attributed to the use of the gas impingement system:
* Failure to fire due to overheating under sustained
fire
* Malfunction as a result of debris sticking to
lubricant in the bolt carrier or upper receiver
The Gas Piston Operating System used in all POF-USA
rifles prevents hot gases and carbon fouling from
entering the upper
receiver and making contact with the moving, integral
parts of our weapon system. |
